Product Description

Metafill SP-I

ECCENTRIC BOTTOM TAPPING (EBT) device is fitted with refractory on to the electric arc furnace. EBT filling mass is a selected refractory mass, which seals the refractory hole of EBT device during refining of steel in the arc furnace

Advantages

METAFILL SP - I", the EBT filling mass has the following advantages:

  • It doesnt fuse during Steel melting process.
  • It has non-wetability property throughout melting operation
  • It doesn't allow the liquid to pass through.
  • It has easy smooth free fall on tapping.
  • The particles of Metafill remain free & non sticky during the operation.
  • It doesn't have any chemical reaction with EBT basic refractory.
  • It doesnt cause any type of erosion of EBT refractories.

Instructions:

  • Before using METAFILL SP-I, the EBT should be totally cleaned.
  • The slag pieces if any should be particularly removed from the EBT it should be cleaned preferably with oxygen.
  • METAFILL SP-I should be filled in pyramid fashion, or in dome shape.
  • After the EBT is filled with METAFILL SP-I, the Gunning material which comes over there should also be cleaned.
  • When the hot metal is charged from the back, the METAFILL SP-I gives best of results.
  • The Tapping Temperature also plays an important role for success of the product.

Packing

  • The material of the grain size of 03-06 mm with special uniform Graphite coating is packed in 25/50 kgs. HDPE woven sack.

Outstanding Thermal Stability and Performance

Tap Hole Filling Mass delivers superior resistance to extreme temperatures, withstanding up to 1600C and exhibiting excellent thermal stability through numerous heating and cooling cycles. Specifically formulated for blast furnace operations, it ensures consistent sealing performance and longevity under demanding industrial conditions.

Precise Composition and Reliable Setting Time

The product is composed of top-grade refractory aggregates and binders, providing a controlled bulk density (1.8-2.2 g/cm), meticulously graded grain size, and standard compressive strength. The mass sets quicklytypically within 30-60 minutes, depending on operational conditionsfacilitating efficient furnace turnaround.

Versatile Application and Simple Storage

Tap Hole Filling Mass is supplied in a loose granular or powder form, making it easy to apply for both manual and automated tap hole sealing. It should be stored in a cool, dry location to preserve quality and performance, ensuring readiness for industrial blast furnace operations.

FAQs of Tap Hole Filling Mass:

Q: How is Tap Hole Filling Mass applied in blast furnace operations?

A: The mass is introduced directly into the blast furnace tap hole before the tapping process. Its granulated or powdered form allows efficient filling and compaction, providing a tight seal to prevent metal or gas leakage until the next tapping is required.

Q: What are the main benefits of using this product for sealing tap holes?

A: Tap Hole Filling Mass offers excellent thermal stability, rapid setting under varying conditions, and reliable sealing at high temperatures. These factors help increase operational efficiency, reduce downtime, and provide long-lasting protection for furnace tap holes.

Q: When should this refractory mass be replaced or reapplied?

A: It should be used each time after tapping operations and before reigniting the furnace to ensure an effective seal. Replacement or reapplication frequency depends on the number of cycles and furnace service schedule, but it is generally required prior to each new tapping event.

Q: Where should Tap Hole Filling Mass be stored for best results?

A: The product should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from moisture and direct heat, to retain its properties and performance until use.

Q: What is the process for using and setting Tap Hole Filling Mass?

A: Prepare the tap hole by cleaning, then introduce the mass into the hole, tamping to compact it. The setting time is typically between 30 and 60 minutes depending on ambient conditions, binder type, and specific application practices.

Q: Is the product safe to handle and environmentally friendly?

A: Yes, Tap Hole Filling Mass is non-poisonous, odorless, and complies with industry safety standards. It is safe for industrial handling when standard safety procedures are followed.
