Product Description
Based in Murtijapur, Maharashtra, we are ISO 9001:2008 certified company engaged in business of providing Ladle Covering Compound - DAFEX-11. It is used by adding to surface of molten metal for reducing oxidation and modification of alloys. This compound also helps in atmospheric hydrogen pick up that gets absorbed in melt. Offered Ladle Covering Compound - DAFEX-11 is a salt mixture which facilitates release of dross entrapped metals.
Features:- Instantly spreads and expands on the surface
- Improved fluidity
- Reduces metal loss
A slag covering and Ladle/ Tundish Insulating compound
Product In Brief
DA FEX-II a silica based insulating compound, acidic in nature, is specially formulated for use as a Tundish insulating cover in conventional casting
DA FEX-II. an extremely efficient insulator, medium exothermic which covers the entire metal surface in the Tundish. It prevents heat losses in the metal and reduces skulling near nozzles and ladle. Immediately after the addition it Spreads on the metal surface and dry throughout the pour. Ladle dumps out clean metal with no metal adhering to the refractory lining. It is specially recommended for supersilica boards.
There is no need to superheat metal prior to handling thus extending furnace and ladle refractory life while contributing to overall operating efficiency and improved metallurgical properties.
Recommended use of this compound is 2-25 kgs. per ton of molten metal or 15 kgs. per meter square, depending on the size of ingots.
PACKING
It is packed in 10 kgs. HDPE woven sacks, which is ideal for throwing over the metal in ladle or tundish.
Outstanding Heat Retention and Oxidation PreventionDAFEX-11 effectively forms a protective barrier on the molten metals surface, reducing heat loss and preventing oxidation during handling. Its low thermal conductivity and stable composition ensure reliable performance, making it ideal for continuous casting, ladle refilling, and transfer operations.
Environmentally Friendly and Safe Industrial SolutionThis ladle covering compound is classified as non-hazardous, non-poisonous, and odourless, ensuring a safe working environment. With a purity above 95% and no environmental hazards, DAFEX-11 is suitable for industries adhering to strict health and environmental standards.
Simple Application and Versatile CompatibilityDAFEX-11 is easy to use, requiring 810 kg per ton of molten metal. Its neutral pH and stable granular form make it compatible with all steel grades. The compound can be stored for up to 12 months in dry, cool places, maintaining its reactivity and effectiveness.
FAQs of Ladle Covering Compound - DAFEX-11:
Q: How do you apply DAFEX-11 ladle covering compound in steelmaking?
A: To use DAFEX-11, sprinkle it evenly over the molten steel surface in the ladle at a rate of 810 kg per ton of metal. The powder forms a continuous, insulating barrier that minimizes heat loss and prevents oxidation during handling and pouring.
Q: What is the main benefit of using DAFEX-11 during steel handling?
A: The primary benefit is the compounds ability to significantly reduce heat loss and prevent unwanted oxidation of molten steel, resulting in improved thermal efficiency, better steel quality, and up to 1300C thermal stability.
Q: When should I use DAFEX-11 in steel processing operations?
A: DAFEX-11 should be applied immediately after molten steel is tapped into the ladle and before transfer or casting processes. This ensures maximum coverage and protection throughout handling.
Q: Where can DAFEX-11 be used and what grades of steel is it compatible with?
A: DAFEX-11 is suitable for use in steelmaking and foundry operations handling various steel grades. Its neutral pH and non-reactive nature make it compatible with all standard industrial ladles.
Q: What is the recommended storage condition for DAFEX-11 ladle covering compound?
A: Store DAFEX-11 in a dry, cool environment away from moisture, in its original sealed packaging. This maintains the products effectiveness and extends its shelf life up to 12 months.
Q: Is DAFEX-11 environmentally hazardous or harmful to operators?
A: No, DAFEX-11 is formulated to be non-hazardous, non-poisonous, odourless, and environmentally safe. It poses no health risks to operators when used as directed.
Q: What materials compose DAFEX-11 and how does its composition affect performance?
A: DAFEX-11 consists mainly of silica, alumina, and proprietary additives. This composition ensures low thermal conductivity, nil expansion upon heating, high purity, and reliable coverage for premium heat insulation and steel protection.
