Product Description
Metafill Sp-I
Product In Brief
ECCENTRIC BOTTOM TAPPING (EBT) device is fitted with refractory on to the electric arc furnace. EBT filling mass is a selected refractory mass, which seals the refractory hole of EBT device during refining of steel in the arc furnace.
Advantages
METAFILL SP - I", the EBT filling mass has the following advantages:
- It doesnt fuse during Steel melting process.
- It has non-wetability property throughout melting operation
- It doesn't allow the liquid to pass through.
- It has easy smooth free fall on tapping.
- The particles of Metafill remain free & non sticky during the operation.
- It doesn't have any chemical reaction with EBT basic refractory.
- It doesnt cause any type of erosion of EBT refractories.
Instructions:
Before using METAFILL SP-I, the EBT should be totally cleaned. The slag pieces if any should be particularly removed from the EBT it should be cleaned preferably with oxygen.
METAFILL SP-I should be filled in pyramid fashion, or in dome shape.
After the EBT is filled with METAFILL SP-I, the Gunning material which comes over there should also be cleaned.
When the hot metal is charged from the back, the METAFILL SP-I gives best of results.
The Tapping Temperature also plays an important role for success of the product.
Packing
The material of the grain size of 03-06 mm with special uniform Graphite coating is packed in 25/50 kgs. HDPE woven sack.
Superior Sealing for EBT Tap HolesEBT Filling Mass is purpose-built for sealing Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) tap holes, effectively preventing unwanted metal leakage. Its robust composition provides reliable performance even under intense heat, ensuring operational safety and efficiency for steel manufacturers and foundries. The materials high cold crushing strength and low porosity increase tap hole durability and longevity.
Outstanding Performance at Extreme TemperaturesThis monolithic refractory maintains structural integrity and dimensional stability at persistent high temperatures, ideal for the rigorous demands of steelmaking. With a melting point up to 1400C and low thermal conductivity, it efficiently withstands repeated thermal cycling, contributing to operational reliability and minimized maintenance.
FAQs of EBT Filling Mass:
Q: How is EBT Filling Mass applied in steelmaking facilities?
A: EBT Filling Mass is typically applied manually or pneumatically to seal Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) tap holes after tapping. Its dry mass form allows for straightforward placement, ensuring a compact seal that resists high temperatures and prevents molten metal leakage during subsequent furnace operations.
Q: What are the main benefits of using EBT Filling Mass?
A: The primary advantages include high cold crushing strength, excellent dimensional stability at elevated temperatures, low thermal conductivity, and minimal porosity. These properties enhance the tap holes lifespan, reduce maintenance requirements, and improve overall safety and efficiency in steel manufacturing processes.
Q: When should EBT Filling Mass be replaced or reapplied?
A: It should be reapplied prior to each furnace cycle or whenever the seal shows signs of degradation, erosion, or potential metal leakage. Regular inspection ensures optimal protection and helps maintain consistent furnace performance.
Q: Where can EBT Filling Mass be sourced and who supplies it?
A: EBT Filling Mass is available through leading distributors, exporters, manufacturers, suppliers, and traders across India. It is widely supplied to steel plants and foundries requiring reliable refractory solutions for EAF tap holes.
Q: What makes EBT Filling Mass suitable for high-temperature applications?
A: The product offers a melting point of 1300C1400C, combined with low water absorption and high purity (>95%). Its high cold crushing strength and dimensional stability ensure it withstands severe thermal conditions without compromise.
Q: How does low thermal conductivity and porosity benefit furnace operations?
A: Low thermal conductivity and porosity minimize heat loss and reduce infiltration of Molten metal or slag, resulting in improved thermal efficiency, longer refractory life, and safer operating conditions for EAF tap holes.
Q: What forms does EBT Filling Mass come in, and what is its surface finish?
A: EBT Filling Mass is supplied as granular or powdered dry mass, offering versatility in application. It features a smooth surface finish, which aids in achieving a tight, uniform seal inside the EAF tap hole.
